The county I live in has a program where parents can register their kids to receive a phone call from Santa. The parents provide some background info on the kids so Santa can ask how they’re doing in Mrs. Turk’s class and the Santas are provided with a cheat sheet, so when the kids ask, “What’s your wife’s name?,” Santa knows to say, “Jessica, and she’s a teacher just like your Mrs. Turk.” (The Santa cheat sheet is an amalgamation of Santa-related pop culture.)
Anyway, one of my friends volunteers every year and he comes back with stories like the one about the kid who knows how to kill Santa (apparently the kid is prepared if Claus ever goes rogue) and the kid who wants anything Spider-Man related (”SPIDER-MAN!”).
During his time slot he spoke with fifty kids and in addition to asking for action figures, magical clothing and world peace, there were many requests for 360s and Wiis. I asked Santa (it’s hard for him to break character) if any kids asked for PS3s and he said, “No,” and then had another sip of Pink Truck.
None. Not even 1 out of 50 asked for a PS3. Now this isn’t a scientific sampling, but isn’t it odd that not a single child asked for one?
