Calling it, “the most-played, most-imitated, most influential puzzler of all time,” Tetris took the number 2 spot in this year’s update of IGN’s list of The Top 100 Games of All Time! Always a controversial collection of obvious choices, curious omissions, and arbitrary rankings, this year’s biggest surprise was the outing of Tetris by an IGN reader. “tetris = gay,” commented deo989, revealing the game’s sexual orientation.
Created by Russian Alexey Pajitnov in 1985, Tetris swept the world in a series of platform ports. Although simple in appearance, Tetris’ block-stacking levels appealed to a broad range of gamers and helped usher in “casual gaming.” Even today, Tetris is available for gaming consoles, cell phones, and other mobile gaming devices.
This revelation ends a turbulent year for Tetris. March’s release of Tetris Evolution for the Xbox 360 garnered low reviews, but the classic franchise rebounded in early November when their L-block piece won GameFAQs’ Character Battle.

Boz:
Ha! Frankly, the L-block has got nothin’ on the long skinny block.
Paul:
little T-block is the best block. you can take him anywhere and he’ll mostly fit in.
