News of Dungeonmaster Gary Gygax’s death yesterday came with the requisite number of puns. “Failed his saving throw” was the most popular with “ran out of hitpoints” coming in second. I started thinking how other deaths might be announced:

Bill Gates encountered a fatal error
John Romero lost his deathmatch
Jack Thompson was permanently disbarred
Ron Gilbert missed the rubber tree
Will Wright’s meters dropped to zero
Shigeru Miyamoto ran out of lives
