Check out this headline from CNN.com ‘Theft’ multiplayer lets you and 15 pals cause havoc. Okay, the article is written by GameTap and it’s just about how awesome GTA IV’s multiplayer will be, but the headline annoys me. No matter how great the game is, no one will be causing havoc. It’s just a game. Really, if you want to cause havoc in GTA, I recommend driving safely, leaving weapons at home, and settling conflict through reasonable discourse.

Well said! I think headline writers often go out of their way to reinforce gaming stereotypes, regardless of the story’s actual content. In this case, the CNN piece is about gameplay features and a new multiplayer mode. Isn’t the headline supposed to encapsulate the story? Oy.
Michael:
Don’t expect CNN to be as up on the gaming community as say Wired magazine. Their forte is missing white women.
