Someone pointed me towards this list of free games at Wikipedia. Now the Internet is littered with free games, but this list is different because it focuses on commercial games which are now available for free.
And there’s some good stuff here.
Beneath a Steel Sky: a classic cyberpunk adventure.
Defender of the Crown: a turn-based strategy game set in Middle Age England.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: a graphical text adventure by Douglas Adams and Steve Meretzky.
Every genre is represented — FPS, RTS, IF, etc. and the list goes from 1978′s Adventureland, an interactive fiction game by Scott “not Dilbert” Adams, to 2007′s Abe Lincoln Must Die, a Sam & Max game.
The games are mostly PC-centric, but there are enough browser-based games to make your work day fly by.
